Nokia has announced the Nokia X3-02 handset. It’s quite a strange phone from what we can see in that it has a regular numeric keypad on the lower part of the phone along with a 2.4 inch QVGA touchscreen above that.

The touchscreen isn’t a full replacement for the keypad though and essentially makes it easier to navigate around the device which could actually work well.

As well as having a relatively small touchscreen, the Nokia X3-02 has 3G connectivity along with wireless 802.11n and Bluetooth 2.1 which makes it very connectible. Read the rest of this entry »

It appears that the device is either a prototype, or perhaps a developers model due to the serial number printed on the top of the phone just above the screen.

The Sony Ericsson X10 is a fairly decent smartphone although it does lack in that it runs Android 1.6 and now 2.1 or above, and the battery lasts just a few hours rather than over a day unless you manually tweak and remove software that automatically runs.

Nokia 7020

Posted by Cool Gadgets On July - 10 - 2010

For those that don’t necessarily need a state of the art mobile phone with all of the bells and whistles, Rogers Communications Inc. has a new offering in the Nokia 7020. The entry level clamshell phone that runs on a simpler operating system, the Symbian Series 40, sports a 2.2-inch display screen that supports a pixel resolution of 240×320.

The entry level feature phone also comes with a 2MP basic camera and a microSD card slot that is capable of supporting up to 16GB of storage. Currently, it would appear that the Canadian mobile carrier is offering the Nokia 7020 under one of four purchase options. If you buy the phone outright, it can be yours for $149.99 and you will be contract free.

Contract pricing on the other hand depends upon the length of the contract. Under a 3 year plan, your cost is $9.99 while if you’re looking for a shorter contract term, a 2 year plan will result in a $59.99 charge. The last option to buy the handset is with the 1 year term for which the phone goes for $99.99. More details including a full hardware review are available through the Rogers Website.

HTC Aria Pictured with 4G Connection

Posted by Cool Gadgets On July - 8 - 2010

The image here is probably a little small for you to make out, but check out the full version below. What you see is the HTC Aria heading to the AT&T network with 4G enabled. The red arrow points to the icon indicating 4G is active.

However, the HTC Aria is not a 4G phone and AT&T’s  network doesn’t have any 4G devices which indicates Best Buy made a bit of a mistake here when creating the image.

The image sits on the front of the Best Buy Mobile Buyers guide.

Although it’s a small mistake that anyone can make and will actually go unnoticed by most people, there are still some who will realise what’s gone on here.

From what we understand, the companies will use stock press photos provided by the company who creates the phone. By mixing them up the wrong way you end up with the HTC Aria 4G in this case.

PUMA Phone

Posted by Cool Gadgets On July - 8 - 2010

The phone is a little unique and not only because it comes from a company who makes sports equipment, but in that it has a solar panel on the back allowing sunlight to charge the phone. Other features include a smallish 2.8 inch touchscreen. The Puma phone leans more towards those who enjoy sports.

We hear that the Puma phone is now available in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

The phone it’s self is looks quite good. The battery on the Puma phone is good for about 350 hours of standby, 5 hours of talk and 24 hours of music. The 2.8 inch touchscreen has a resolution of 240×320 pixels and is QVGA. On the back a 3.2 megapixel camera can be found that has a 6x optical zoom.

Although not incredible specs, it’s certainly handy having built in solar panels and for those in to sports, it has a nice array of features geared towards various activities. A video of the Puma Phone can be found here.

Price wise, the Puma Phone will set you back just short of €400 unlocked although if you sign up for a contract it will be reduced by quite a bit, if not completely down to zero.
