iPod touch

Posted by vitya On January - 14 - 2012

The most popular iPod model, the touch looks a lot like an iPhone. With the launch of Apple iOS 5, the touch now supports iCIoud -a neat way of accessing your music from anywhere via the web.

This means the 16GB or 32GB of internal storage that the player boasts is now only a theoretical limit.

Often referred to as “the iPhone without the phone”, the touch supports FaceTime video chat, can capture HD video and photos, has a games center and works with the same apps as the iPhone: a choice of more than 100,000 awaits. Wi-Fi lets you make VoIP calls; while iMessage lets you send encrypted texts to other iOS 5 users.

The 960×640-pixel widescreen is ideal for gaming. Log in with your Apple ID, create a gaming alias and do battle with friends. It’s not a bad music player either.

iPod Nano

Posted by vitya On January - 11 - 2012

The iPod Nano has been updated yet again, shrinking by more than 40 percent and dropping in weight to a mere 21g. Apple has given the Nano a new spin as a fitness-focused player that’s designed to be worn on your wrist. An onboard pedometer records your steps, helping you keep track of your training goals. Nike+ support has also been added.

The 2011 Nano also gains multitouch support, letting you easily flick through menu items, zoom into photos and rearrange icons on the 1.5in (240×240-pixel) display. Tapping the cover of an album that’s playing brings up playback controls.

Playlists can be built using iTunes or automatically generated by Genius Mix. The latter finds similar music and presents it in a playable suggestion list. Shaking the Nano shuffles the playlist.

The only iPod with an FM radio, the Nano has an onscreen tuner that you flick to change stations. Tap the screen to add the current station to your Favorites list. Apple cites a 24-hour battery life.

Creative Zen Nano Plus

Posted by Cool Gadgets On August - 18 - 2010

We’re always on the lookout for ‘bang for our buck’. Most of us are more than willing to shop around for the lowest price (something made inherently easy with internet based shopping, and various websites which offer up the cheapest price incredibly quickly), and the all-important bargain. Yet in many circles, the general public seem all too ready to stick with what they know about or have heard of, despite the advice of the more educated. To your average Joe Public, the only way to play all your music on the move without lugging CDs about with you is to get them all on one of those little iPod thingies.

As good as Apple’s iPod range is, I think most of us technically savvy types are well aware that when it comes to pure value for money, they have been lagging behind their competitors in the last year. Creative in particular have introduced the better 20GB MP3 player model in the form of the Zen Touch and Zen Sleek, and now want to push for a piece of the action when it comes to those who don’t require that amount of storage. So here is the Creative Labs Zen Nano Plus 512MB (also available in a 1GB version) which looks set to take on the iPod Shuffle.

iPod touch 4 Case Mockup

Posted by Cool Gadgets On August - 6 - 2010

Apple  could be launching a new iPod touch 4 in the next month or so. The reason for this belief is that a photo illustration of an iPod touch 4 in a case has been revealed that indicates a new version with a camera is coming.

What happens here is that Apple send out technical specs (as in CAD details) to those companies who will be making cases. The drawings don’t show the device in details other than sizes of each part. With this information it appears that a company has created a mockup of what a case and iPod touch within that case will look like.

It’s hard to make out exactly what’s happening in the render, but it appears that “if” the iPod represents a new device then it will keep the curved back rather than a glass back of the iPhone 4. We also see the addition of a camera and possibly a flash also which is one of the wanted features on the device.

We’ll have to see how this one goes, but we shouldn’t need to wait too long as some people are indicating a September announcement or even launch could happen for the next gen iPod touch 4.

Clear iSpot 4G Hotspot for iPad and iPhone

Posted by Cool Gadgets On August - 5 - 2010

The Clear iSpot is a mobile 4G hotspot designed to allow smartphones and tablets to connect to the internet at 4G speeds.
The device is designed for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and when those devices connect over a WiFi connection, they are then capable of accessing the internet at 4G speeds rather than the 3G speeds that currently can restrict them.
The iSpot is capable of allowing up to eight wireless devices to connect up to it and has been optimised for Apple  products. We are not sure what that exactly means, but we assume any WiFi device with a fast enough connection will be able to get the same benefits from it.
The device is powered by battery and charged by a USB connection.

We now hear that Samsung will launch two other tablet devices also which will include an 8 and 10 inch version.
It is expected that Samsung will be pricing the new tablet computers aggressively to get them in the market to tackle the popular iPad from Apple.
The Samsung Tablets will first be launched in their home network market on SK Telecom. If popular then I am sure an international launch will follow perhaps early next year.
