Posted by Cool Gadgets On May - 3 - 2010

There are a few manufacturers such as Sony that have begun to develop 3D blu-ray players, but soon, this market will also get crowded. Denon has a pair of blu-ray players in the BDP-1611UD and the BDP-2011UDCI which will soon receive a firmware upgrade making them compatible with 3D discs.
The firmware update has been scheduled for this fall which will add 3D Blu-ray disc support to a universal player that is already compatible with the most common formats including standard Blu-ray, SACD playback, as well as video and audio DVDs and CDs.
The Denon players include 1GB of on board storage which can be expanded through the included USB data port. The units are also Internet ready and support video streaming through YouTube and Netflix.
The BDP-1611UD will be the first of the two players to be released this June at a price of $400. This will be followed by the BDP-2011UDCI two months later at $800.

How to Remove Scratches from a CD or DVD

Posted by computers On April - 13 - 2010

We have mentioned a few different ways of removing scratches from CD’s and DVD’s. Some require the use of an egg and a cloth to make some sort of funky cleaning material, while others come in the form of a kit you can buy from sites such as Amazon.

This next one is another custom one that makes use of Vaseline to fill the scratches in. You basically need a cloth, Vaseline and a couple of other materials and simply clean off the CD to make it grease and dust free. Once done you rub the materials over the disk and the gaps are filled in.

Waterproof Silicon Power A70 External Hard Drive

Posted by computers On April - 2 - 2010

If you have a portable external hard drive, you probably realize that there is a greater risk of data loss as you move the drive from one place to another. If you happen to take the drive with you on your travels outside of the home, this risk is compounded even further, especially if the drive isn’t packaged properly as there is a chance of shock damage from being bumped or possibly dropped.
Silicon Power has come out with a new offering in their A70 external HDD, a rugged drive that is impact, water and vibration resistant as well as being dust proof. As a result of this, you can take comfort in knowing that the drive would probably survive if you happen to spill a glass of water at your desk, or perhaps took the drive out of the home and were caught in a rainstorm. Off course, no drive is 100% perfect and though the A70 drive offers a greater degree of protection, it’s still prudent to perform regular data backups be it to DVDs, cloud storage or to some other preferred backup solution. Z Cinema Advanced Surround Sound System

Posted by admin On July - 23 - 2009

Z Cinema Advanced Surround Sound System

The latest fashion in watching movies is to use your “multi-purpose machine” (aka the desktop PC or Notebook) in order to watch your favourite DVDs and digital videos. And the hardware makers are aware of that – so that is why they come up with very tempting solutions and good prices. Ok, so you have your DVD, you set up your PC with the latest high-tech wide screen display, you’re almost ready but there’s something missing – without a very good sound system, all the special audio-visual effects from the movies are pointless. They are meant to bring some sense of “reality” from the story you’re watching. There are a lot of 5.1 sound systems which are pretty good, but their price is quite restrictive. Even the price of the 2.1 Z Cinéma Advanced Surround Sound System from Logitech is quite over the top – $300. However, this makes us wonder what is so special about this sound system. The main features are: surround sound without rear speakers (SRS® TruSurround HD™ gives you the impression that you’re in the center of the action from the movie you’re watching), high performance audio (an 8-inch long-throw subwoofer with flared bass port gives you powerful, distortion-free bass) and pure digital fidelity that offers 24bit sound quality. The sound set comes with a remote as well which helps you in using the Media Center program from Windows Media Center (both XP 2005 and the Vista version), to manage your TV programs, playlists, Internet radio and much more. This remote control with the overall quality does “explain” in a way why the price is a bit high – but who needs a good system knows that really good value doesn’t come cheap.
