Apple iPhone 4S

Posted by vitya On December - 29 - 2011

Though the iPhone 4S might not be the most exciting iPhone to appear, an improved camera, a faster processor, and the addition of the Siri personal assistant make it a powerful smartphone. If you are upgrading from a 3G or a 3GS, you FU see a huge difference. But if you have an iPhone 4, you may want to wait for the next upgrade. The phone’s iOS still has a few irksome shortcomings, and I wasn’t thrilled by the call quality; otherwise, the iPhone 4S impresses. Read the rest of this entry »

Apple iPhone 4

Since its launch, the iPhone 4 has generated heated debate over its merits and perceived problems. Antenna gate, which ended with Apple admitting the phone’s reception problem, seriously damaged the reputation of the brand. Yet the phone continues to sell in its millions, and the reason is simple: it’s very good. The physical design is the first sign that this is something special. With luxurious scratch- and smudge-resistant Gorilla Glass on the front and rear, and an aluminum band wrapping sensuously around the edge, the iPhone 4 is simply in a class of its own. This device maintains the great look and feel that Apple ensures for all its equipments. However, it offers incredible features including the processor Intel Core i7 option. All these characteristics make the device a portable PC. The updates to the Apple’s MacBook are closely watched and for this reason, any improvements are discovered soon. The iPhone Story

Posted by admin On December - 6 - 2010

There is little doubt that the Apple iPhone revolutionized the world of the mobile smartphone. Although its story has been told many times before, there is little harm in reflecting back and contemplating how an idea in the head of the Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple, has eventually lead to the latest of the iPhone generation of smartphones, the iPhone4.

But we will start at the end. Steve Jobs announced the iPhone 4 in the early summer of 2010. Before it was announced there had been much speculation about how it would differ from previous iPhones.

One way in which it differed was the antenna; many users complained that, if the phone was held in certain positions, they lost connectivity. This was very worrying for Apple and a modification was introduced as well as a software upgrade. Fortunately these changes did the trick; the iPhone 4 now performs as it was designed to do, and is back at the top of its class.

Apple iPad Could Arrive by Christmas

Posted by Cool Gadgets On August - 19 - 2010

Rumours about Apple releasing a smaller iPad have been around before. Today they have resurfaced with details indicating that a 7 inch iPad could land around Christmas time this year.

Although this is a new iPad (if it arrives), we wouldn’t label it an iPad 2 in a way that our understanding of it shows that it’s just a smaller version of the current iPad that is available right now.

The information comes from Digitimes who is correct in some cases but also not correct in other cases. However, they are reporting that a 7 inch iPad from Apple is almost ready to be assembled over in Taiwan.

MacBook Air Project Creates All-In-One Air

Posted by Cool Gadgets On August - 18 - 2010

When you break an Apple MacBook Air the first thing you probably wont think of is chopping it up and making in to an All-In-One keyboard.

This is exactly what the MacBook Air Project is about. A MacBook Air user broke his laptop and decided to take all the insides out and cut them to size and attach them to the underside of a wireless Apple keyboard and Magic track pad.

All the ports and parts have been moved over to the all-in-one Air keyboard although the job isn’t finished just yet as it’s a little rough around the edges and is held together in part with duct tape.

MoviePeg for iPad Launches

Posted by Cool Gadgets On August - 9 - 2010

The iPad launched in April and a lot of people have been wondering if a MoviePeg iPad stand would be made available… the answer is yes, and it’s available now.

The MoviePeg iPad stand is similar to the iPhone version, but because of the iPad being larger, you need to use two MoviePegs instead. When ordering the MoviePeg for iPad you actually get two that can snap together to keep them safe whilst travelling around.

For a limited time the MoviePeg for iPad is being supplied in Clockwork Orange. The Clockwork Orange MoviePeg is a limited edition colour limited to 1000 pieces. The other colour is Pitch Black. Both colours cost £12.99 a pair with shipping at £2.50. The company ship globally.

iPod touch 4 Case Mockup

Posted by Cool Gadgets On August - 6 - 2010

Apple  could be launching a new iPod touch 4 in the next month or so. The reason for this belief is that a photo illustration of an iPod touch 4 in a case has been revealed that indicates a new version with a camera is coming.

What happens here is that Apple send out technical specs (as in CAD details) to those companies who will be making cases. The drawings don’t show the device in details other than sizes of each part. With this information it appears that a company has created a mockup of what a case and iPod touch within that case will look like.

It’s hard to make out exactly what’s happening in the render, but it appears that “if” the iPod represents a new device then it will keep the curved back rather than a glass back of the iPhone 4. We also see the addition of a camera and possibly a flash also which is one of the wanted features on the device.

We’ll have to see how this one goes, but we shouldn’t need to wait too long as some people are indicating a September announcement or even launch could happen for the next gen iPod touch 4.

Clear iSpot 4G Hotspot for iPad and iPhone

Posted by Cool Gadgets On August - 5 - 2010

The Clear iSpot is a mobile 4G hotspot designed to allow smartphones and tablets to connect to the internet at 4G speeds.
The device is designed for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and when those devices connect over a WiFi connection, they are then capable of accessing the internet at 4G speeds rather than the 3G speeds that currently can restrict them.
The iSpot is capable of allowing up to eight wireless devices to connect up to it and has been optimised for Apple  products. We are not sure what that exactly means, but we assume any WiFi device with a fast enough connection will be able to get the same benefits from it.
The device is powered by battery and charged by a USB connection.

Samsung Android Tablet

Posted by Cool Gadgets On August - 3 - 2010

Samsung could be unveiling the Samsung Galaxy Tab Android OS tablet device in just a couple of weeks time. We hear from Electronista that the release date might be August 11, or should I say the unveiling of it.

The new Samsung Galaxy Tablet will run Android when it is launched. An invitation has been sent out to numerous news sites indicating that three new products will be revealed.

Right now we are just going on rumours as there isn’t much information about the Galaxy Tablet about. What we have heard is that it does measure 7 inches which puts it right between the Dell Streak and Apple iPad in terms of size. We also suspect it will run similar, if not slightly better specs than the Galaxy S smartphone.

Apple Magic Trackpad

Posted by Cool Gadgets On July - 31 - 2010

The Magic Trackpad is just like the trackpad on the MacBook Pro–but bigger. It’s made with the same advanced touch-friendly and wear-resistant glass surface, but with nearly 80 percent more area. This gives you even more room to scroll, swipe, pinch, and rotate to your fingers’ content. And because the entire surface is a button that clicks, you can use it in place of a mouse without losing a hint of functionality. The Magic Trackpad’s full set of gestures includes two-finger scrolling, pinching to zoom, rotating with your fingertips, three-finger swiping, and activating Expose or switching between applications with four fingers. Plus, the trackpad is customizable. Simply access the Magic Trackpad pane in System Preferences to enable gestures you want and disable those you don’t. Price: $69.00

Those that have an iPhone 4 and are comfortable with tinkering with their Apple device will be pleased to hear that a hacker who goes by the name of Geohot has confirmed that he has managed to jailbreak the latest Apple iPhone.

That’s the good news. The bad news, Geohot has not confirmed if and when he will make this code publicly available. Until this is released, it’s worth keeping your eye on other developments such as the Comex Sprint jailbreak tool which will be available once firmware iOS 4.0.1/4.11 comes to the iPhone 4, 3GS and 3G.

The Apple iPhone is an “iWitness” For The Police

Posted by Cool Gadgets On July - 13 - 2010

In the fight against crime, law enforcement officials have used technology as a means of getting a one up on criminals. Police have relied on phone records as a means of tracking activity as they recreate the events leading up to a crime and with smartphones, police have even more digital data including email messages and text messages that can be used to solve crimes.

There is now an area of forensic study that focuses just on the Apple iPhone and using its data (GPS information, GEO tagged pictures, browser history, screenshots of opened maps) in solving crimes. Part of the reason why this data is so valuable is because “very few people” know how to effectively erase data from their smartphone. Of the major phone players, the iPhone is said to be one of the easier ones from which to extract information from. The RIM BlackBerry is on the other side of the spectrum and it’s believed that Android phones will lend themselves to a forensic investigation.
