Microsoft Pink Phones aren’t the Redmond company’s response to mobile devices that cater to a female audience but rather, they refer to a long standing project of handsets that the company has been developing.
A Microsoft event is being held on April 12th and it is widely speculated that at that time, new handsets that fall under this umbrella project and have been codenamed “Turtle” and “Dove” will debut. Coincidentally, the timing of this event comes just a few days after Apple hosts its own event where they will announce iPhone OS 4.0. Though Microsoft is keeping things close to their sleeve until the official announcement, it’s widely believed that phone maker Danger has had a hand in the development of both mobile phones. Danger you may remember was also involved in the development of the T-Mobile SideKick and was later acquired by Microsoft.
The Microsoft Event for April 12th is going by the catch phrase “It’s time to share” which is believed to elude to the social networking component that has been integrated into these phones. Both Turtle and Dove will offer access to Facebook and Twitter. They will also come with a QWERTY keyboard, touchscreen displays and will most likely run on a Windows CE-like mobile platform rather then Windows Phone 7 OS.
