D-Link has launched their 3G Door Phone (DWM-351), a wireless device that is referred to as a remote security surveillance system that allows homeowners to be able to view visitors at the front door. The 3G Door Phone is said to be the first doorbell that enables homeowners to be able to directly view property visitors regardless of whether the homeowner is physically located at home or not.
The DMW-351 comes with a 0.1 MP camera that captures images of guests and streams this digital information to either a personal computer or mobile device connected to a 3G network. The device can be used in one of three different modes: two way voice calling, one way 3G video or snapshot which consists of still pictures.
The unit also offers a host the ability to remotely dial-in to view activity at the front door. Setup is said to be easy for the do it yourself folks and the DMW-351 comes with a camera, speaker and microphone with the device enclosed within an IP65 waterproof case. There are also LED status lights that will confirm proper functionality while externally illuminated buttons improves visibility at night.
