Packard Bell has added a new offering to its multimedia storage device lineup. The new device is the Studio ST hard drive an external hard drive that will be available in a variety of drive sizes ranging between 500GB and 2TB, enough space to store your favorite movies, music and data files.
As the Packard Bell hard drive is being touted as a multimedia drive, it’s good to see that support for 1080p video with Dolby Digital surround sound over an HDMI connection has been included. In fact, if you were looking to pair this up with an audio system to take advantage of the surround sound, the recently announced Asus Cine5 surround sound speaker would be a nice consideration.
The Studio ST has a USB 2.0 input port that will allow you to connect to other media sources that might be located on other portable drives or USB keys and of course, Packard Bell has confirmed support for the major audio/visual file formats. Finally, the Studio ST drive comes with a nice gloss finish and also includes an automatic data backup feature in the event that the drive is being used to hold important data files that can’t be lost.
