The Dell (NASDAQ:DELL) Mini 5 made its debut at CES 2010 and in early February, the device received FCC approval. It appears that Dell has big plans ahead of them as they try and confront the upcoming launch of the Apple iPad.
Dell has confirmed that they are not looking at launching just a single tablet computer, but rather, the plan is to release a “family of tablets”, each catering to a specific niche group. In comparing what we know about the Dell tablet with the Apple tablet, both have their advantages and disadvantages over one another.
The Dell tablet computer currently includes a 5-inch screen display which is more then two inches smaller then the iPad which boasts a screen size of 9.7-inches. However, Dell has acknowledged that larger screen sizes will be available shortly.
What Dell does have on Apple is the integrated digital camera and phone features which are notably absent on the iPad, a device that ironically is being referred to as a large screen iPhone.
