Dell XPS 625 Reviews

The newly launched Dell XPS 625 desktop PC is a high end device both in terms of performance and price. Priced at a steep $1499, this machine is not quite cheap. The chip used for the device is the multiplier-unlocked Black Edition of the AMD Phenom II X4 940 processor. The machine sports four gigabytes of DDR2-800 RAM running on a motherboard that sports AMD’s 790x chip set. The graphics features of the XPS 625 put all other competitor computer features to shame. The XPS 625 boasts of an ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics card. This device is one of the only few Dell devices that are open for upgrades. This is supported by the fact that the motherboard comes with a single free PCI Express x16 slot. The machine also houses free x8 slot, one x1 slot, and two PCI slots. The user can install up to three additional hard drives. As far as the connectivity goes, the machine houses six USB ports, support for one FireWire 400 device, and place for a single eSATA device. There is room for a single ethernet connection also. The front case of the machine has the lone FireWire 400 port and two USB ports. The front and rear of the PC house little lights that help the user view every part of the system without the need of a flashlight.

The device comes with a standard two-button mouse and the typical Dell function-button keyboard. With this computer, and its Phenom II X4 940 processor, AMD aims at giving Intel Core 2 Quad-based machines a fairly tough competition. All in all the Dell XPS 625 is a strong and excellent Phenom II-based desktop PC, but is fairly expensive at the same time.
