Epson has launched a series of economic All-in-One printers that are both performance oriented and budget oriented in nature. The Epson Stylus SX200 can print, scan, and copy. It can be said to be a device that combines these three features and comes with a decent price tag. The printer is extremely light in weight, weighing just 7.5kg. The printer measures a minimal 450 × 342 × 182 mm. This means that the printer is easy to carry around and takes very less space at the workstation. The SX200 boasts of using four separate Epson DURABrite Ultra cartridge inks. A special feature of these cartridge inks is that they are resistant to water, smudging, and fading.

The printer comprises built-in memory card slots, which support Compact Flash, SD, Memory Stick Pro and XD-Picture cards. This makes the printer provide the feature of PC-free printing. The printer also provides PictBridge connectivity via the USB port. But in this series of printers, only its counterpart, the Stylus SX400, has a 6.3cm LCD viewer. So, while using the SX200, it becomes difficult to choose which photo to print off the memory card without first viewing it on a computer.
The SX200 comes with a variety of software. The software includes Epson’s Easy Photo Print, Easy Photo Fix, File Manager and Web To Page. Additional software like ABBYY FineReader Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software and Sprint Plus for the Mac are also included with the unit. The Epson PhotoEnhance technology in the SX200 automatically detects skin tones, landscapes and skylines in printing photos. It adjusts the colour settings accordingly. The SX200 provides the printing speeds of 34 pages per minute for text and 30 pages per minute for colour copying. A full A4 colour print, set at standard setting, takes about four minutes to print. Despite this slow speed, the printer provides an excellent quality of both the black text and colour prints. The Epson Stylus SX200 is available at a price of £78.29 including VAT. It is a good printing option for all those users who have low print demands but high quality expectations.
