The HD201 Headset is mainly targeted for enhanced quality and comfortable sound experience for most users who do enjoy movies, with headphones and take interest in personal gaming. When it comes down to the matter of specially gaming made sound, one should always go for the Sennheiser HD201.
As its reviews, the Design is eye catching and smart enough to look very attractive. The build is quite hefty and although made form plastic felt sturdy. As far hearing comfort is concerned, the set features a very interesting design, which is illustrated by a circum-aural build so that the ear pads sit comfortably around the ears. This effectively results in hours of soothing and awesome experience with the headphone on, while playing games for long hours or enjoying a whole movie at a stretch.
The sound leakage form the set is quite minimal and can be ignored as a deal breaker, but the capability of blocking inbound undesirable sound could have been improved. Since it was designed specially for gaming, it was thoroughly tested against a host of games. The outcome was impressive, the auditory performance was outstanding where it provides the users close proximity to the action that is on the screen. The various effects like explosion, grunts, howls, crowd chants, footsteps and other minute sounds were clearly audible and proved genuinely what the designers had intended to. Watching movies was also a very good experience, for the set can justify the screen effects with incredible sound clarity. However, when the previous model named HD202 was released, it was a Rs.500 cheaper, and the difference now is not very prominent.
Listening to music with these cans was not a remarkable experience at all, it was rather an average one. The headset clearly lacks the bass effect, while the cans produce not so well high and mid frequency reproductions compared to that of the HD202. Rock music, sticking to the middle of the frequency table, sounded good but songs with a prominent low end sounded pretty flat and weak. The HD201 is currently retailing for Rs. 1990 and it is adept for functioning as a headphone only for gaming and multimedia purpose.
